Robert Alda originated the role of Sky Masterson in the 1950 Broadway production of "Guys and Dolls". He went on to famously star in a movie based on the life story of George Gershwin, playing the title role.

He acted in 2 episodes of M*A*S*H alongside his famous son. In one episode, he and Hawkeye get stuck at an aid station in the midst of heavy war and casualties, and the station medic is Antony Alda, Robert's son and Alan's half brother. I thought that scene was moving, just knowing how much it must have meant to them to be acting all together.

It didn't hurt how handsome they were, either!

You should also check out the film "The Four Seasons" a movie he wrote and starred in. Wonderfully funny and heart-warming, plus his real-life daughter has a small part in it. Also, the first movie I ever saw in him (before M*A*S*H) was "Paper Lion" based on the real-life antics of writer George Plimpton. He was fabulous (and so young and handsome) in that role. Later on he was great in "The Aviator", "Diminished Capacity" and "The Tower Heist". A little hard to see him in bad guy roles, but his acting and artistry cannot be denied. He's fabulous!

That cannot be denied. One of my most favorite movies is an oldie called Same Time Next Year. It was such an unusual premise and so brilliantly acted out that I still remember some of the lines. I didn't know about his comments about his wife. Makes me love him more!
