I never know what to do when I see a dog running loose. Animal control will send them to a kill shelter so I never call them. You did G-d's work in what you did, Gilly. Bless you for that!

The dogs of the world surely thank you. And tags? Yes, please use tags. And collars. I nearly killed myself fighting with a stray mutt with no collar in the middle of the road a couple of years ago.

No collar, but miraculously, he was chipped and came from a town 80 miles away! A local dog charity came and picked him up from my house but I never did hear how he came to be so far from home.

That is a special kind of stupid whoever was responsible.

God knows there are warnings out there so no one can claim ignorance about the effect of a hot car on our pets. Great reminders in your post for how to keep our precious dogs safe.

There was a dog earlier this evening left in his patio, with no water , food , company, and cleaned up from his poop. He cried and barked for attention and was friendly. I sat next to his yard, and kept him company. Later his master let him in, I hope for the night. I didn't like that he wasn't walked or kept company, while the people were eating and drinking several doors down that the dog knew.
