There is something magical about escaping to the beach or the countryside! I always find that I can just "breathe" and be me. I wish I could either bottle up that feeling for later or just move to either setting. Also, thanks for starting my day off with a bit of Bruce Springsteen .... got "Glory Days" playing in the background of my mind :)

You are so funny. Actually we LOVE Rodney, but where in the world would you put that? It was hysterical. The photo of Caddyshack was tough to take because of the store sign, but it was funny, too.

We have also taken a lot of vacations in New England because we wanted our son to appreciate nature as much as we do. I grew up going to the Berkshires and Maine a lot. Actually, we also went to Vermont and New Hampshire, too! Anyway, I love the mountains and the beach. It is always rejuvenating.

Yes, I am a big Bruce fan as well. In the late summer of 1978 I was getting ready to go back to school in Boston. He was playing at Madison Square Garden in NYC, so I went to see him, and a week later I went to see him at The Boston Garden! But I don't have his autograph. How cool!

Looks like a PERFECT day. We miss the ocean regularly around here! You are right...there is just something about the ocean and the sand that speaks to us through it's beauty! You know as well as I do, Helene, how marvelous the shore is after Labor Day. I don't want to let go of the summer, so Gary and I made a promise to go down one more time before it gets too cold. We did the same thing last year - two weeks before Sandy.

When your parents are ready to sell, let me know (probably never!)

Thanks, Lisa. You have the mountains and we have the beach. I love nature.

A few years ago I had kidney and gallstones at the same time. Ouch! It was a horrible time. I got into a depression because my hormones kicked in and went crazy. My best friend, since we were 3, told me to go outside into nature because it's ALWAYS the answer. The depression was short-lived (thank goodness) but I never forgot how true her words were.

Nature always re-energizes us.

I don't think you can tell from the photo, but I had on a sweatshirt and a light scarf! We sat in our beach chairs and huddled. Kind of romantic, eh?
