An Empowered Spirit Blog Post

Dear Reader: I Have a Few Things to Say

By Cathy Chester on April 5, 2019

Dear Reader:

Welcome back! I am so happy to see you here. If you don't mind I'd like to get right into a few things I want to say to you. Here goes.

I've been feeling very strange about writing blog posts less frequently. It doesn't sit well with me. When I created An Empowered Spirit in 2012 I envisioned publishing weekly blog posts and that's what I did for quite a while.

Truth be told I'm a slow writer who methodically checks and re-checks my work. Creating posts that grab readers enough to want to come back again and again was a huge undertaking and a lot of pressure.

I loved every minute of it.

I was new at blogging and social media felt like a foreign language. But it was full steam ahead and I learned as I went along, determined to empower and educate as many readers as possible.

As time marched on I decided to change the direction of my path. I felt the need to do more than write for my blog, so I became a regular contributor for some MS and health-related outlets.

But I still felt something was missing. I wanted to stretch my advocacy wings as much as possible beyond writing. So I was tickled pink to be invited to sit on several patient panels and to lecture to some able-bodied audiences. I have some future projects I'm working on as well.

I also decided to resume work on a book I started writing five years ago.

So here's my point, what I want to say to YOU. I want you to know that no matter where my work appears it will always reflect the mission I originally promised to YOU, the readers of An Empowered Spirit. After all, we started this blogging journey together so I feel as if we're old friends having an ongoing conversation.

I promise to use my voice as loudly as possible to advocate for better health and to provide readers with information they can trust, and inspiration they can count on.

I care about you. I am grateful for you. I love hearing from you.

Don't worry, I'll still be blogging right here, only not as often. And when I do you can be sure it'll be something of particular interest to you. YOU are my main focus.

I wanted you to know.

Now it's your turn to speak up. Please leave a comment about what issues you'd like me to write about. What are your concerns? What interests you within the MS community and outside of it as well? What makes you anxious or provides you with great joy? What are you hoping for, aside from a cure? What would you like to know more about regarding MS? Are there any new developments you have questions about? Share your thoughts in the comment section and I'll do my best to address them.

So here we go! Let's straighten our sails together as we take each day as it comes. We are resilient. We are courageous. We are strong. We are in this together.

Big hugs and warm friendship~

Cathy

NOTE: Here are some of the places where my work appears or has appeared in the past. Enjoy!

  2. Cathy,
You have been an inspiration and source of knowledge for me over the years. Although I am not directly effected by MS l have become informed about this disease. I have shared your blog with others in hopes that they too will find valuable information and also comfort.
I pray that you will continue your efforts in anyway that best serves others. Whatever you do please know that you are making a difference for good.
    Love Always,
    Bo

  3. Wonderful! Work on your book, can't wait to read more about it! You have to do what works for you, I've learned this the hard way, and this seems like a perfect fit for you. Congratulations!
