When I worked in Manhattan in the early 1980’s I remember squeezing my size 8 feet into any pointy-toed 3-inch heels that looked cute with my outfits, purses and briefcase. Young women fresh out of college were vying for positions in corporate America in a highly competitive market.
What was on your resume was as important as how you looked.
Too many times I came home with painful blisters and cuts on the back of my feet. If I learned one thing in midlife it’s to be kind to your feet. Now I wear only stylish and comfortable shoes. The soles must be flexible, the insoles a heavenly bed of comfort, and in the winter I prefer gripper soles to prevent me from slipping and falling on ice.
You can usually find me in a t-shirt and yoga pants when working from home. If I have to go out to run errands I’ll wear sneakers. But this summer I wore my Earth Brand Bay sandals more than my beloved sneakers. You can read more about them in another post here.
So I was thrilled when Earth Brand asked me to review a pair of shoes from their fall catalogue. I needed a pair of booties to update my fall wardrobe. I have a few professional events to attend and my t-shirts and yoga pants aren't exactly appropriate!
I had a tough time deciding which pair of Earth Brands to choose. There were so many adorable ones! I finally settled on their black bootie, the Sintra 2 in their Earthies collection.
The temperature was a little cooler the other day so I decided to give my new booties a try. They were easy to slip on with zippers on both sides, and the round toes made the boot completely comfortable. The leather is soft to the touch and the soles were flexible, making them instantly comfortable to walk in.
I paired them with black leggings and an oversized blouse. I loved how they looked and made me feel.
I'll also pair them with black tights and a skirt or dress for an updated professional look.
I know they'll look and feel great, giving me an extra boost of confidence when I have to speak in front of a large audience next month.
Crafted in premium leather, these booties have cute metallic studs that peak out of the boot when unzipped. Their exclusive contoured comfort design supported my feet from heel to toe, and the cradled toe area kept pressure off of my toes.
Comfort. Style. You’d think those were enough reasons to purchase a pair of Earth Brand shoes. But here’s another reason why I love this company, and so will you:
For every shoe purchased they plant a tree! You can read more about their initiative here. That’s important news, because according to the website Conserve Energy Future:
I’m giving away a pair of Sintra 2 booties to one lucky winner! Leave a comment and follow instructions on Rafflecopter below. Contest ends at midnight on October 6. The winner will be notified by email. NOTE: All contestants must reside in the U.S.
Good luck!
DISCLOSURE: I was given a free pair of Sintra 2 booties as well as compensation for this post. All comments are, as always, my own honest opinion.
Cathy I love when you write about products and services I have no prior knowledge of. I learn so much and get to try something new. Thank you for providing excellent articles and a sprinkle of fun.
Very timely. My poor feet have been suffering since midsummer. I have flat feet, weak ankles with an inward turn, and a wide foot with a very narrow heel. From earliest childhood I have worn the very best shoes that could be bought. My parents diligently insisted on it, even in the summer when everyone else was wearing sneaks and sandles. I followed suit in my earlier adulthood, but gradually have let it go because of style, convenience or cost. I know better. I have recommited to doing better. Yesterday I went shoe shopping. I bought two pairs of the best fitting and feeling shoes that I could find. It's great to know of another brand that might work out for me.
I selfishly hope I win! I've heard very good things about these shoes from other friends and would love to try them out. Comfort has also become very important to me as I've gotten older too, but I do still like to look good.
I would have liked to have seen you modelling them 🙂 And (as usual) I'm out of the running for the comp because I'm in far distant Australia!
Love that they plant a tree with each pair! Linking the things we do like shopping to making the world a better place is great! Plus, the shoes look sharp! Really different and fun!
I love all the things this company stands for!
I always had wide toes, a high arch and narrow heels so shoes were a problem even in my 20's. Fortunately you can find anything in NY if you look long enough---and you have an obsessive father who just had to help you find them!
The booties are so cute! At first I thought their name was 'Sinatra" and figured that was why you liked them, LOL! I value a comfortable shoe more and more as I get older and harder to fit. I've abused my feet for too long.
I love those sandals and the booties are very cute. Booties so I read and see is 'the' item for fall. Thank-you Cathy for bringing this brand to my awareness. Comfort in shoes is my number one concern, over style or color and this brand appears to understand we comfort seeking women!
These are so cute and perfect for the fall!
I would like to say that I would love comfort in them.
Very cute booties. I like them in brown. I like how the company supports the earth-much like another company I adore Toms.
Cathy, back in the early 80's I worked in the garment center. You can imagine what I wore on my feet just to be fashionable! I certainly suffer now for it. Your tip is worth it'weight in gold. Thank you. What stores can you find them in? I'm sure I can find them. Don't mean to be a pain! Thanks again for the tip! JANET
Great article. I'm curious about the boots and will read more about them. I gave up heels years ago but still want shoes that look and feel good. And I'll feel less guilty if I buy some knowing that a tree will be planted!
Ha Ha - go ahead, tease me with with stylish comfy footwear that I can't get hold of! (Well I haven't really checked so maybe we do have that brand in the UK but I doubt it). When I was a kid, I could't wait to wear stiletto heels. But once I was able to, I didn't want to. I wore heels in recent years at my sons' weddings and hated every second. (The shoes not the weddings!) I am a dasher - I love my cuban heeled boots because I can walk, run and bounce in them at 90 miles an hour. I love the sandals shown here - beautiful. And the booties. Sigh. Good to hear about the tree planting scheme.
I enjoy a stylish bootie and especially one without heels. They are no longer on my fashion list. The zip's a good idea. I'll be looking for them!
The nice thing about technology nowadays is the ability to find comfort & style...these are a great example!! jodie

Wow! What a great company and nice shoes. Thanks for sharing them. I'm also more interested in comfort than stilettos these days!
Cathy, those boots look really nice. I have such problems finding comfortable shoes and boots with lower heels. Will have to check out this company.
I love hearing about new shoes because my feet are the bane of my existence! Wide, and one foot is a half size different than the other. I am still paying for wearing some seriously cute but too tight shoes 5 days ago, lol!
I will share your giveaway. I think I need to buy the Sinatra for my self this morning 🙂 Those are beautiful
The older I get the more the scales tip toward comfort vs fashion when it comes to footwear. These sound great (and like a combo of both!)
LOVE the look of these booties! Style and comfort both??? Yes, please!
I love these boots--very cool looking. I am a boot-a-holic and would definitely wear these babies. I love that this company gives back too--that's cool!
With my MS, my feet are my biggest issue, the most painful. Working fulltime and having to be presentable and professional despite how I am feeling, finding stylish footwear that do not cause me more discomfort than I am already dealing with is a real challenge. I love the concept of the Earthies company, we have to put back more than what we are using up or there will be nothing left for who comes next.
I entered! I hope I win I love these boots and you know how important comfort is to me!
I actually really need a pair of new black booties! Maybe we can wear them together at BAM and be twinsies!
Perfect timing. Between my KonMari-ing my closet, and my aching plantar fasciitis feet, I could use a nice, comfy pair of boots!
Thanks for the reminder! I am now in Santa Fe for the month and am going to buy them at the store I found, or order them. If I don't win, of course.
I could swear I've seen you in those sandals.
I only enter if I REALLY want and need the product. These, my dear, are just perfect for me. Here's keeping my fingers crossed.
I hope you are feeling great. Fall is beautiful here in Oregon.

I would love to win a pair of these booties! I have been looking for a decent pair 🙂
