A few weeks ago I decided to take a break from writing. My family took a much-needed vacation for a few days (I'll be writing about it in June.) I stepped away from my computer and the daily task (and love) of writing to see what the spring air had to offer. There's so much in nature that's restorative for my soul and this time was no different.
Now I'm off again. I've been asked by the Consortium of Multiple Sclerosis Centers to attend and blog about their annual event, a unique gathering of people who are committed to improving the lives of people with Multiple Sclerosis.
Everyone from neurologists, nursing professionals, scientists, mental health professionals, members of the non-profit community, corporate supporters and many others will be discussing the latest treatments, research, genetics, robotics, nutrition, gender issues and so much more.
With networking opportunities, exhibits with the latest technological advances and some fun social events I look forward to seeing old friends and making new ones.
Talking to people who I only read about in my daily research? That will be the equivalent of spending time with my favorite icons,
So I'll be back to writing again very soon. In the meantime this tweet was a good reminder of why I do what I do. This person read my post about "Why I'm Thankful for My Diagnosis." If I make a difference in even one person's life then I know that what I do is all worth it.
Congratulations Cathy, you are quite the inspiration.
You sound incredibly excited and motivated and I say kudos to do.
Best regards to you,
Joan

You, your family and your writing inspire me daily. Have a wonderful time at the event!
all great reasons to take a break Cathy! Enjoy your hiatus and looking forward to reading about your "adventures" when you return. Btw, loved that tweet from your reader - makes blogging so worth it!
We all need a break, even when we do what we love. You encourage and inspire so many, Cathy. It is a gift. You deserve time off.

A tweet that sweet kind of makes it all worthwhile, doesn't it?
I hope you have a ball, and learn lots at your conference!
I've missed you, but I understand your desire to focus on other priorities. I look forward to your future articles. You inspire many people.
You are such an inspiration Cathy! Sometimes I think I would like to do what you are doing for migraine sufferers. However lately I've been so disabled by my migraines, I can barely write anymore. I had to leave About.com because I needed to spend too much time on the computer and looking at screens too long makes things.
I'm trying to be as upbeat as you, but it isn't easy.
Travel well, my friend. The conference is lucky to have you, knowing what a social media star you are (BAM, for example!). Looking forward to hearing all about it when you return. xo
Living a rich and interesting life and continuing to learn are the best ways to fuel your writing - thank you for taking those breaks and can't wait to read more when you return!
What an incredibly beautiful tweet!
And that was sentence I never thought I would write--"beautiful" and "tweet."
You are always inspirational to me--even in your time off.
Sounds exciting, have a great time!
I like taking a break from social media when I go on vacation. I haven't got any devices for when I'm away from home, I take pictures and keep an old-fashioned paper journal and recount my adventures when I get back - I like the connectedness that social media gives but every now and then it also feels good to just focus entirely on the real world.
The conference will be lucky to have you! You're inspiring voice is joyous. What a wonderful tweet. It must warm your heart. Have fun!
Cathy, it's good to take a break from even those things we are passionate about. I can't wait to read about the event!
I will be happy to read your posts whenever! Have fun at the conference. You inspire us wherever you are. xo
congratulations - enjoy your time off.
Have a wonderful time! Seems THE perfect reason to continue not writing... for a while!
