Pack Up All Your Cares and Woes: How The Jersey Shore Gave Me My Groove Back

By Cathy Chester on September 16, 2013

Sometimes you just need to get away, even for a day. You need to go somewhere that will take your troubles away, even if it's only for a few short hours. For us, it's the beach.  The sound of the ocean, the feel of the sand beneath your feet, and the smell of the salt water does it all.

There is a strong parallel between the resilience of the New Jersey shore residents and their ongoing strength that gives us strength. Seeing their fortitude renews our own.

The quaint downtown was the perfect place for lunch outdoors,  and a chance to browse some charming shops.

  1. You and I feel the same about the ocean and beach. There is nothing more restorative than lying on the sand and watching the seagulls fly over the waves. So glad you went on such a beautiful September day.

  2. Looks like a PERFECT day. We miss the ocean regularly around here! You are right...there is just something about the ocean and the sand that speaks to us through it's beauty! Oh yeah....so did you pick up that *awesome* Rodney Dangerfield painting??? I mean it's just so perfect HOW will you choose WHO to give it to as a gift!!??

  3. During very stressful times, it can seem like you're too far down the road to cycle back to the simple things that will charge the spirit. And then, isn't it astonishing how what you see, hear, smell and taste is all it takes to find that energy. You deserve such a break, I'm glad you took it.

  4. There is something magical about escaping to the beach or the countryside! I always find that I can just "breathe" and be me. I wish I could either bottle up that feeling for later or just move to either setting. Also, thanks for starting my day off with a bit of Bruce Springsteen .... got "Glory Days" playing in the background of my mind 🙂
